Bio
Zaid Bawab is a multifaceted Jordanian filmmaker, educator, and a growing figure in the Jordanian entertainment industry. Beginning his career in filmmaking with a foundational digital filmmaking workshop at the Royal Film Commission (RFC) in Amman, Zaid's academic journey led him from obtaining a bachelor’s degree in computer graphics and animation at Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) to getting a master's degree (MFA) in cinematic arts specializing in Scriptwriting and Directing from the Red Sea Institute for Cinematic Arts (RSICA).
Zaid's directorial ventures span a broad spectrum, from crafting commercials for prominent regional and local brands such as Johnson’s, Royal Jordanian, and Orange, to creating music videos for renowned acts like Mirage and Rania Al Kurdi, as well as contributing to documentary series including two episodes from the Science Channel’s "What on Earth?" in its first season. His passion for sharing knowledge has led him to teach at esteemed institutions like PSUT, the German Jordanian University (GJU), the American University of Madaba (AUM), and various filmmaking-related workshops.
Beyond filmmaking, Zaid's deep-seated understanding of Arab popular culture and entertainment has seen him take the managing Entertainment Editor role for Al Bawaba news website for two years and as an Arabic Metadata and Music specialist in Cork, Ireland, for a significant streaming project. His versatility extended into audio storytelling as a senior producer and business and audience development manager with Sowt podcasts for a year, and he is currently one of the main presenters on Roya TV's "Caravan" show.
Today, Zaid is an industrial professor in the Design and Visual Communication department at the American University of Madaba. His latest venture, "Al Shubbak" production house, signifies a new chapter. Meaning "window" in Arabic, "Al Shubbak" aims to fuse the film and music industries, producing high-quality content ranging from short TV and social media segments to music videos and documentaries. This initiative embodies Zaid's dual passions, marking his foray into the alternative Arabic Jordanian rock-pop genre with his debut music video as an artist, “Afwan Amman” which is part of a bigger visual album project that he is releasing as an alter ego called Badleh, an Arabic word that translates to Suit in English.
"It was a pleasure working with Zaid on a video, best of all is his pleasant and humble personality! He is going to go places"
